Attorney General Reveals Inquiry into President's Rivals and Epstein Connections

This past Friday, the Attorney General appointed Jay Clayton to lead an probe into opponents of Donald Trump and their relationships with the late financier. This decision came shortly after Trump ordered her to begin the probe.

During an announcement, the Attorney General praised Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. She stated, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This development seems to diverge from a recent memorandum from justice department officials which stated that the Epstein files lacked grounds for further inquiries. As per the document, authorities “lacked sufficient evidence to pursue cases against other parties.”

The President Calls for Scrutiny of Democrats in Epstein Matter

The announcement comes as growing pressure from the president on congressional Republicans to resist the full release of Epstein-related documents before an key congressional decision next week. Several lawmakers are expected to support the disclosure.

Newly public communications from Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to the president’s past involvement with the sex trafficker, including details that he was more aware of Epstein’s actions than earlier acknowledged.

On Friday, Trump announced he would direct the Department of Justice to investigate Epstein’s ties with Democrats, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
