Patriots Match Best Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Triumph Against New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five scores this season
New England tied their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football
Rookie Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad notched an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season
Quarterback Drake Maye accumulated 281 yards and a score, completing 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the Patriots advantage at the summit of the division as they improved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after falling to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back caught a pass from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"That was a big time for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye commented on the rookie. "He aims to be great."
Fields connected with Metchie toward the end of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the triumph
